Bright Lights Books introduces Bright Lights Magazine, a first-of-its-kind online and print platform dedicated towards spotlighting and celebrating young literary talent from the African continent.
At Bright Lights Magazine, we are looking for fresh, imaginative, quirky, surprising stories and poetry written by children/teens (between the ages of 8 and 14) and young adults (between the ages of 15 and 21) which are able to move both young and older audiences.
We would like to receive stories that are open and true to the writer’s sensibilities, whether fictional or otherwise, and we embrace writing styles which may not conform to the boundaries of conventional storytelling. We are also open to literary works of all genres.
All accepted submissions will be compiled into issues/books, which will be available online and in print. For our inaugural issue(s), the submissions may follow any theme or subject; but our future issues may include themes to provide a guide for the authors.
We pay a flat rate of $50 for each accepted submission.
We are a paying platform. While we may use the same piece of accepted work for print, digital, and/or audio editions, contributors will only be granted a one-time payment of $50 for each accepted piece.
Payment will be made after online publication, and will be issued via PayPal (or other available mediums).
Bright Light Books holds an exclusive five-year publication right for all accepted & published work. For all future republishing, please acknowledge Bright Lights Books as the first publisher.
